StewArt O’ Bryan is a self taught freelance Graphic Artist and Illustrator. Since 1995 he has worked with a variety of media. Starting in the sign business, where he learned the skill of hand lettering signs, trucks and billboards. He decided to leave the sign business, and began an airbrush t-shirt business for three years, learning the skills of airbrushing on shirts, vehicles and murals. He later began working as a freelance artist with marketing agencies and Advertising agencies. Then learned skills with Adobe photoshop and Illustrator. He used his imagination with Ad designs, brochures, magazines and TV commercials. During this time he learned the skill of animation. Over the years he animated commercials and ad promos for companies. Through this duration he missed the creative dynamics of his true passion, fantasy and surreal art. After a trip to the High Museum in Atlanta to see the Salvador Dali exhibit his love for surrealism began to motivate him moving forward into the fine arts. His only free time was in the evenings while his graphic design and illustration work took up his daytime. In 2016 he had an idea for a childrens book, but eventually ended with writing a 600 page novel dedicated to art and his love for fantasy. The book he wrote, “Anna and the Artists” was a fulfilling achievement and since it’s completion his dedication to the fine arts has increased. The skills he learned by using a multitude of mediums has propelled his love for fine art and surrealism. His favorite artist growing up were Frank Frazetta, Dali, Norman Rockwell and had a great fascination and respect for the great Walt Disney. As a child his love for Disney is what propelled his interest in animation. The Disney movies and music were a huge motivating drive to open his imagination. Learning to play guitar and actually filming and editing a few tv commercials were just another addition to his love for creativity. His favorite concepts are in the whimsical parodies of the old fables and myths. He strives to create art that tells a story capturing the viewer to search for small details hidden in the artwork.
His favorite artistic quote from a novel about Michelangelo “The Agony and the Ecstasy” is —“An artist working at the top of their powers exist in a realm far greater than human happiness.”
